Only two weeks separate us from 1st Battery Conference Emobility in Belgrade. The
programme is (almost) completed and the organiser once again succeeded to attract
eminent experts from the wider region. We can say that there will be an assembly of peak
battery knowledge from central Europe in Belgrade. There will be experts coming from
Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Hungary and of course Serbia.
The conference will take place in Hotel Metropol on 23rd of March. A day earlier, most of the
experts will be present at the Student Tribune, where they will answer – hopefully – many
interesting questions about batteries from students of various faculties. The student tribune
will take place in the Belgrade Youth Club, Dom omladine Beograd.
“The decision to also prepare a tribune for students was made completely spontaneously,”
says the president of Emobility Primož Lemež.
“The battery business is getting bigger; batteries are becoming one of the world’s most
important products. Not only for the automotive industry, the transition to renewable
sources also requires energy storage, and not to mention all-electronic devices… In short,
batteries will be extremely important in all phases of life. After all, also in medicine, where
they already save lives. And that’s why we would also like to introduce batteries and all of
their potential and the possibilities they offer to young people.”
The next day, however, there will be a conference where experts from various fields affected
by batteries will gather, and by no means only from automotive industry. Even though there
will be quite a few “motorists” among the lecturers and panelists. For example, Ivan Dogan
from Rimac Technology. There is probably no need to introduce Mate Rimac and his
successes in the field of electric cars and the development of technologies. Ivan is in charge
of battery development at this company. And considering that it was Rimac Automobili that
made the most powerful production car in the world, his lecture will surely attract a lot of
interest.
Coming from Slovenia, prof. dr. Robert Dominko, world-renowned expert in the field of
battery chemistry. He is one of the most prominent researchers of new materials for battery
cells.
Austrian, Dr. Gerfried Jungmeier has been dealing with ecological issues since the appearance
of the first modern electric cars, and of course one of the most important issues with electric
cars is the battery.
From Hungary, the president of the HUBA battery association dr. Péter Kaderjak. Hungary is
the largest European producer of batteries, and in this country, in addition to four large
battery factories, there are also a whole series of laboratories, small companies, developers
of battery electronic systems… Not only because of Hungarian development, but also
because of possible business connections, the arrival of Dr. Kaderjáka to the conference is
extremely important.
Nemanja Mikač and Dr. Marko Lukovic from Serbia, former extremely successful Serbian
entrepreneur in the field of batteries, and the latter, one of the most prominent designers
and winner of many design awards around the world, who is especially interested in cars. He
will tell us what to expect and what options designers will have when solid state batteries
really do appear.
The opening speech will be given by Primož Lemež, the chairman of the organizing
committee. And everyone who knows Primož knows that his introduction will probably be
quite provocative.
The 1st battery conference will take place on only one day this year, but the organizers are
aware of two things: that it will not be just one conference, but that several more will have to
be held before people know enough about the mystery of batteries, and that the next
conference will take place for at least two days.
